As I mentioned in an earlier blog post, I was having trouble finding information about Mary Slechta and a ships manifest I found did not have her name on it with the rest of the family. I recently came in contact with Trish Schmidt, who is related to Anita June (Taylor) Slechta who married Leo Slechta. This Leo Slechta is the son of Charles Paul Slechta. She gave me access to her family tree on Ancestry.com and in doing so I found a census on there with information on Charles Slechta. Well right below his name was Thomas Slechta and Mary was listed on that census. So now I at least know that Mary did come with the rest of the family and did not get married before she came to the United States. Once again making contact with someone new, no matter if related or related to some in common, provides another little piece to the Slechta puzzle.

Slechta (also nobilita or aristocracy) is a set of individuals with special legal privileges and often also entitled to a noble title.
